Don't forget "Reaching for the Stars. A Foundation of HOPE for Children with Cerebral Palsy" is "Cooking for a Cure". We need your recipes!
We would like to thank everyone who has submitted recipes. We have received recipes from as far away as Australia. Our hope is to get them from all over the world. Please pitch in and help call friends, neighbors, and family members and have them send in a special/favorite recipe.
We are hoping with everyone’s help we can make a fabulous first cookbook with collections of recipes from all over the country.
We’re looking for recipes in all categories – from main dish to desserts, after dinner drinks to your favorite kiddo’s dish. Feel free to send as many recipes as you would like! The person that sends in the most original recipes in each category will be awarded a free cookbook!
Ideas to think about when deciding on a recipe:
Please email or mail your favorite recipes and include your name, city and state. Also, if you would like include how your life is affected with CP (if you have a child, grandchild, friend, or neighbor). You can even dedicate your recipe to someone! We would love for you to tell us your story, and send one picture, we may feature it in the cookbook.
- You could send in a region-specific recipe
- We would love to have families submit dairy free and gluten free recipes if you are they have them.
- Pick your family favorites!

RFTS Joins Forces with the AACPDM on Capitol Hill on September 20th and 21st
RFTS Co-Founders Cynthia Frisina Gray and Anna Marie Champion will be joined by Iowa Chapter leaders Kristi Trotter and Michael Kutcher in Washington DC on September 20th and 21st. We are partnering with the AACPDM to "Storm the Hill" to advocate for federal funding of Cerebral Palsy research at the CDC and NIH. The CPIRF is also supporting this cause and joining us making this a true collaborative effort.
Here is a link to the Fact Sheet we crafted that outlines what we are advocating for. We will be having direct meetings with Kareem Dale, Associate Director, White House Office of Public Engagement & Special Assistant to President Obama for Disability Policy.
We also have a series of meetings with various lawmakers who are members of the House and Senate Appropriations Committees. We will be "live tweeting" on September 21st if you want to follow our progress. Cynthia will be tweeting at http://www.twitter.com/reach4stars and Michael Kutcher will be tweeting at http://www.twitter.com/mkutch. Tune in for updates as they happen!!
Also, Michael Kutcher will be doing interviews with key political, Washington "insider" publications The Hill, Politico, and RollCall that will run on Tuesday, September 21st. These three publications are "must reads" for federal legislators and lawmakers. This is a great opportunity to raise awareness of the need for national Cerebral Palsy research and of RFTS efforts to help children with Cerebral Palsy. We will be posting excerpts of his interviews once they are posted.
Have a wonderful week!!
